Unsurprisingly, lithium-ion batteries offer the most near-term promise for developing high energy and high power batteries to satisfy the future needs of society . Among the many explored electrochemical power sources, these batteries are considered to have the greatest promise for use in large-scale applications.
Lithium-ion battery (LIB) is one of the most attractive rechargeable batteries, which is widely used for powering electronic devices in the daily lives. Similar to the 2D nanomaterials (e.g. graphene, MoS 2, MnO), 3D architectures have been used as active electrode materials in lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries have the characteristics of high-power density, long life, low self-discharge, low maintenance costs and low environmental impact. However, lithium has high reactivity, so there are technical limitations related to the safety of building batteries (Table 2). Table 2. Lithium-ion battery
Lithium-ion batteries generate energy through a chemical reaction, not an electrical reaction. They move lithium ions between the cathode (usually a lithium metal oxide) and the anode (typically graphite) through an electrolyte. Lithium ions move from the cathode to the anode, storing energy during charging.
