This paper presents a single power-conversion dual-active-bridge (DAB) microinverter with safe commutation and high efficiency for PV power applications.
This result indicates that the proposed microinverter with its control system achieves high efficiency. Fig. 22 shows the power loss distribution in the proposed microinverter when V pv = 40 V and P o = 400 W. Power losses from the grid-side switches S 5 - S 8 and the transformer account for more than half due to their high resistances.
6. Conclusion The single power-conversion DAB microinverter with safe commutation and high efficiency for PV power applications was introduced and verified by the analysis and experimental results.
However, the conventional microinverters use bidirectional switches and have commutation problem. In contrast, the proposed microinverter has novel circuit structure and it can avoid the commutation problem. Moreover, the proposed microinverter provides high efficiency of 96.7% with its circuit structure and modulation scheme. Table 2.
Because these advantages are obtained with only a single power-conversion, the proposed microinverter has high efficiency and simple structure with high reliability. The operation principle and commutation issue of the proposed microinverter are theoretically analyzed in detail, and experimentally validated on a 400-W prototype. 1. Introduction
